- I Started Working More Productively
There are three stages of business growth:
- Start up Phase
- Growth Phase
- Maturity Phase
When my business was in the Start up Stage my only priority was to survive. I did what ever it took to stay open, pay my bill and attract a decent amount of clients. I did everything my clients wanted; I even worked with those time sucking clients just to keep afloat.
In about eleven months in business, I have managed to attract enough clients to enter into the Growth Stage. Even though I’ve managed to stabilize my income and I had money to hire an assistant to take over the non productive tasks. I still held on to it. This hindered me from propelling to the maturity stage. When you’re investing most of you time on €8 per hour tasks after your business has already stablized, you are hindering your ability from growing further!
I know there is an endless list of tasks to do, calls to make, items to attend to, things to follow up on, products to review… the list goes on! But we need to spend our time on productive activities
Since I’ve hired an assistant I’ve managed to work more effectively and things get done more quicker than expected.
- I Limited MyTime and Duties To Only Three Primary Jobs
50% of my clients spend most of their time doing non-income producing activities such as picking up the phone, replying to emails, packaging products, opening mails etc. I have noticed that you can not grow a business until you have freed up yourself from “mundane tasks” and trivial reoccurring low-income activities.
I had to find time to do these 3 Money Making Activities
- Do More Marketing
- Work with More Clients
- Create more Products and Services
When you spend your time doing meaningless things you can not grow your business. There are so many hours in a day but how much of that is spent making money.
There are two Zones of Time that you can spend your time on.
Currently most people spend 50% of their time doing things of value (Profit Zone Stuff) and 50% is spent on the Distraction Zone (Time Sucking Stuff).
All the money is in the Profit Zone. If you can spend less time hanging out in the Distraction Zone and start working on your marketing, your business will take off.
But Joyce, I can’t afford to delegate?
You can’t afford not too.
Sitting around doing zero revenue producing tasks all day long, stuck at your desk, while the business is dying … all because you can’t get new clients or doing some marketing to give your business the push you need. What do you thing is worth more?
Your job is to be The Rain Maker. You make it rain when you STOP wasting 50% your time on tasks that generate zero value.
- I Made a List of the Top 10 Things I’m Doing that Doesn’t GENERATE REVENUE / VALUE, but Currently Consumes a lot of My Time
In my Wealthy Entrepreneur Coaching Intensive, clients are asked to list their low priority tasks.
I found out with the 80/20 rule that, only 20% of the tasks listed are consuming 80% of their time. When my clients free up their most consuming tasks, they see more growth and that’s because they are using most of that time in moving their business forward.
- I Considered Working 3 Days A Week
The biggest shift I’ve managed to do in my business was to implement the 3 day work week. I see clients on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays while Monday and Friday are my business development days.
For me to go 3 days mean I had to be organized. I’m pretty much fully booked on my “Client Appointment Days”. On my “Business Development Days” I focus on anything that gets me more clients and makes me more money.
I have managed to increase my income by doing this and ‘am more productive, I have a life and I don’t experience any burnout.
