“Recently I’ve been trying to find ways to enhance the ’stickiness’ of my business. By this, I mean that I am consistently finding ways to stay top-of-mind with prospects and clients.
One idea I’ve been using is giving a free gift with any INITIAL appointment I have with a client. For example: I had a few slots free for my VIP Private Consulting for half a Day, so I posted an online ad for the slots in my local area – Luxemburg. I received a few leads, but one in particular was quite anxious to start working with me right way. I arranged for an initial qualifying appointment, and draft a personalized sales-letter that I give when I meet up with clients. In the letter I discussed the recent market changes, the lost in profit, and more importantly the weather (it was really sunny here).
The opening title is ‘BUSINESS IS BOOSTING ‘. One of the lines I used was ‘With so many people closing their business in the economy, it’s easy to drown in the overload of information about how to make more money!’ Another line was “Don’t get toasted by all the choices out there!” All of this was specifically aimed at tying into and reinforcing that *I* was the coach they should hire to help move their business forward.
Along with this letter, I included a small gift card to a coffee shop. But it doesn’t end there… Here’s where the stickiness factor kicks in. Since I aim to make every interaction with my clients a memorable one, I went to our local supermarket and picked up a pocket fan for about 5 euro. The kind that fold up and you can fit it in your bag. I purposely picked the most obscenely bright colour (yellow with black polka dots to be exact) and upon meeting the clients at the first location, presented the pocket fan and the envelope with my sales letter, along with my newsletter.
Needless to say they were enthralled and have been telling everyone they know that ‘Their coach is Joyce and you NEED to hire her for your marketing, she’s the BEST!’ This was only last week and I’ve already been referred two more paying clients. Not bad for 5 euro gifts and a few minutes of my time.”
