Going through me email this morning, I saw an email announcing the death of one of my greatest mentor, Jim Rohn. I was saddened to hear a personal development pioneer died on Saturday.
I loved hearing him speak and read many of his books when I was starting out. His quote “you are the average of the 5 people you hang around the most” changed my life and it’s an idea that I share with my clients to this day.
He has impacted and improved the lives of millions, with rich, deep, serious ideas articulated in a way anyone can understand, grab hold of and use to enrich themselves.
Jim Rohn died of Pulmonary Fibrosis.
God bless you Jim – you will be missed…by so many of us who appreciated and valued the way you distilled personal development into simple (but not simplistic) axioms we could apply to our lives to be better, do and be more.
Here’s a video that shares some of Jim Rohn’s quotes. Watch it.
Jim has a bunch of videos on youtube that I suggest you watch. You can also by his products at www.JimRohn.com – where you can also read more about this remarkable man and his passing. Jim’s life work was geared towards showing us how to truly live.
He inspired me to do and be more, and for that I will be eternally grateful.
A few years ago I had just started business coaching business in my “spare” time while I was working full time.
I was doing nothing but working on my business. Non-stop work. I’d come home from my day job, eat some dinner, then sit down at my desk to write ezines, sales letters, follow-up mails, create ads, respond to customer emails, develop programs, scheduling teleseminars, stuffing envelopes, handling finances….
I did everything, without help, maybe my husband would give me a hand from time to time, but I was doing everything just because I couldn’t afford it.
I worked on my business for almost three years with no break, fueled only by words from Jim Rohn, Dan Kennedy, Tony Robbins, and some other successful marketing coaches.
Before, I figured out how to market my business on the internet. I scrambled, hustled and scraped out every dollar I could. And re-invested those euros back into my business, just to learn ways to grow and make more money in my business. I didn’t buy any clothes, cars, and house or even go on a holiday. I worked, hard, and built my business on sweat day-in and day-out for years.
I paid the price, but I couldn’t have done it without reading great stuff from Jim Rohn and others like him.
So if you’re feeling discouraged and scared about what lies ahead for you, Jim is the person to lead you on. Listen to this man and let him inspire you.
You won’t go wrong heeding his words. I promise you that.
I came from nothing, with no advantage and no skills. Everything I have today, I earned. And that’s what keep me going and am proud of it.
But I did it all by standing on the shoulders of giants like Jim Rohn.
God bless you, Jim. Rest in peace.
